The fight begins, Conlan won this first round. But Donnie forward continues and begins to land a few punches to Conlan. Donnie and mutual Conlan received many blows as if to show who is stronger to take a hit. The fight more exciting and round-by-round fight continues. Donnie several times fell, but he still could rise. Likewise with Conlan, he has received a severe blow from Donnie. And finally in the last round Donnie managed to make Conlan fell to the floor, it's just a pity Conlan was saved by the bell sounds ending the match. Do Conlan won that game? Clear and definite Donnie as a boxer newcomers and unseeded able to survive until the final round and also be able to leave behind a deadly attack to Conlan and it makes Conlan feel awe and respect for Donnie. Here Rocky also managed and successfully made into a boxer Donnie considerable future and no longer as a boxer newcomers.

Creasy: Revenge is a meal best served cold.

Rayburn: Pita Ramos...She showed him it was all right to live again.

Rayburn: A man can be an artist..in anything.. food, whatever. It depends on how good he is at it. Creasy's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece.

Another one of the movie stars Denzel washington that I like. A story about a former Cia agent, a former assasin that swears to vengeance on those who commit unspeakable act against the family where he was hired to protect the family.

The story begins many incidents of kidnappings in Mexico that hit the high society and squeeze them with ransom in exchange for the liberation of one family were kidnapped. There is one kidnapping every 60 minutes in Latin America. 70 % of the victims do not survive. In such conditions cause many parents hire bodyguards for their children. Kalfus recommends talking to Paul Rayburn (Christopher Walken), a former CIA agent who now runs a security company executive. Rayburn then recommend his old CIA friend John Creasy (Denzel Washington).

Ramos impressed with Creasy resume, which includes a variety of activities counter and counter-terrorism. But Creasy can overcome them and still remain alive. Creasy was not interested in the work of the guards and even a little unhappy with the children, but he needs a job.

Coldness, impatience, despair and runaway Creasy to drink alcohol as an escape and entertainers of his heavy live, slowly began to fade as he found himself starting to like the kid. He replaces the role of parents, provide advice and guidance in the swimming competition. He helped overcome her fear of the sound of the gun, turning it into a desire to move after hearing the sound. Pita finally emerged as the first prize in the competition. As a token of gratitude and appreciation and friendship given Creasy, Pita gives Creasy emblem of St. Jude, as a protector and savior, negating all the obstacles and barriers, which her bought with her own money. Creasy felt very grateful for the attention of Pita.

However, subsequent events occurred. Shortly after delivering Pita for piano audition, Creasy saw a suspicious vehicle through the driver and two police cars blocking the surrounding streets. To warn Pita, Creasy pull out his gun and fired shots into the air, making Pita surprised and fled.

During the subsequent shootout, four of the attackers were shot, including two corrupt police officers. but Creasy also severely injured and unconscious, allowing the surviving kidnappers to kidnap Pita.

In a press statement to the public local police chief blamed Creasy who killed two police officers while Creasy himself lying unconscious in the hospital. He then contacted the Federal Police Minister, Miguel Manzano (Giancarlo Giannini), which states that the police who died was a corrupt cop. They decided to talk to Creasy after he recovers.

Man Of Steel

"Man of Steel" begins with the story about the background of the dying planet Krypton. The birthplace of Superman. There is a difference in opinion between Jor-El (Superman's father) with the elders Planet Crypton, a difference of managing natural resources (energy) in order to survive the destruction of Planet Crypton. Besides, Jor-El's wife also gave birth to a son naturally first in the air Krypton since centuries. Both parents of Superman, Jor El (Russell Crowe) and Lara Lor-Van (Ayelet Zurer) gave the name Kal-El to their baby.

Along with that there is also a coup by General Zod (Michael Shannon) who are dissatisfied with the leaders of Krypton. General Zod want to master the planet krypton and rescue. To save their son from the destruction of the planet Krypton and coup General Zod then Jor-El sent his new son to the planet that survived the destruction of the planet Krypton. The entire planet Krypton codek and descent also come shipped with their son.

Betrayal General Zod and his troops can eventually overpowered. General Zod and his army were arrested and sentenced to undergo 300 cycles of somatic reconditioning exiled to the Phantom Zone. Before serving his sentence, General Zod said and promised to mother of Superman that he will surely find their son and will reclaim what has been taken from them (Codex).

Son of Jor-El who named Kal-El later life as Clark Kent (Henry Cavill), the son of Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner) and Martha Kent (Diane Lane) as a peasant family in Smallville, Kansas. Parents who find him the first time when the 'air capsule' that carries himself landed on Earth after going through space away from their home planet Krypton.

Kal-El is now named Clark Kent since childhood has realized the power on him. Often he received improper treatment by friends of his childhood, but he refrained from replying as on advise by his father. His father felt that the world is still not ready to accept who he was with his powers. Clark then uses his powers to help the people who need them. Of course, done secretly so that his secret remains a secret.

The story goes on Kal-El that adventure to find their own identity, who in fact he was, where he came from, to and with what purpose he was sent to this earth. Until finally took him to the pole and found the space ship relics of his ancestors when the days of expansion are looking for new sources of energy for the planet Krypton. In the boat anyway he finally knew who and where he came from those described directly by his biological father, although only in the form of a shadow and spirit.

When Clark found the ship relics of his ancestors from the planet Krypton that he accidentally activates a signal that makes General Zod can track his whereabouts, which then mobilized his troops to attack the planet Earth in order to regain Codex.

Superman finally appear in public after the presence of General Zod who have bad intentions that will make the Earth a new place to replace the Planet Krypton was destroyed. General Zod is free from prison along with the destruction of the planet Krypton.

Superman appears to fight General Zod and his army who also have the same super powers like him because they also come from the same planet where he came from. Enemies who are already searching for him.

At the beginning of this movie I still love and awe of advanced technology and leading-edge image shown when Superman's father put him in the machine that will take him across the galaxy and planet to Earth. But a little less comfortable at the end of the story when Lois Lane as if always there wherever when superman fight against General Zod. whereas fights very wide area but Lois lane that ordinary people can follow and are always close to the battle area. So she could hug Superman when feeling sad for having killed General Zod is the man who came from the same planet Crypton. Ridiculous in my opinion because as sad as though any superhuman self-control should be as soon as possible. Grieving may momentarily but as human beings with strong personal as well as role models and protectors of the earth should not let Louise lane held him. Maybe it could be made of other scenes, for example, to vent his grief then he flew to the his'house' and sad in there or tell of his'father'. I think it was more impressive as a superhuman to me.

Twilight Saga: Eclipse Review

After seeing the previous films, Twilight and New Moon, the only thing I was looking forward to in the third installment was some cool vampire vs. wolf CGI action. I knew I would have to sit through the same old story of Bella (Kristen Stewart), as she snaked her way back and forth between the arms of Edward (Robert Pattinson), the vampire, and Jacob (Taylor Lautner), the werewolf.

Eclipse starts off with Edward and Bella planning their future together and doing typical teen couple things, like sneaking off to make out in the shrubs. Jacob then shows up and starts stirring up the situation with plenty of drama. Bella basically tells both men that she chooses Edward, but continues to play with both of their hearts.

The tension builds a little when Edward and his vampire family discover that Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard), a vampire who will stop at nothing to kill Bella, has brought together an army and is heading to attack them. With this threat heading straight their way, Edward and Jacob have no choice but to join together to protect Bella. The Cullens, Edwards vampire family, and Jacob's werewolves band together and ready themselves for the upcoming battle. This is all despite the tensions brewing from the love triangle between Edward, Bella, and Jacob. Edward, seemingly the more mature male, tries to put all things aside to protect the one he loves. Meanwhile Jacob, who is also in love with Bella, runs around with his shirt off taking every chance he gets to make a move on her and doing everything he can to start shit with Edward. These tensions almost end badly a number of times, but Bella is always there to crack her whip. The battle comes and goes and the movie quickly gets back to the love story, but It was all pretty impressive to watch.

I would say Eclipse is a step up from the previous two films for a number of reasons. Bella isn't quite as emotional in this third movie as she was in the first two, and I think this is a big improvement to the character and the story. Bella still doesn't know what she wants, but at least this time around she isn't yelling at her dad for no reason and trying to kill herself every chance she gets. The lighting and camera work were done to perfection, and it's clear they didn't cut any corners making Eclipse. Viewers get a deeper look at the film's characters, including a few back stories, which shine some light on some of the other vampires in Edward's family.

All in all I can say I was entertained with this third movie. It would not be a bad movie to see on a date, but make sure you have seen the first two or you will be more than lost.

Movie Review - The Twilight Saga - New Moon

I have to admit after watching the first Twilight I didn't really understand what all of the buzz was about. I chalked this up to the fact that I'm not a teenager and I also don't have a vagina (although sometimes I wish I did). Don't get me wrong, by no means did I think Twilight was bad; it was merely okay. I've seen better, I've seen worse. New Moon is a marked improvement upon the first film and I actually found myself getting wrapped up in this modern day retelling of Romeo and Juliet with a supernatural twist. New Moon still isn't the best movie I've ever seen, but if I were a fourteen year old girl, I'm sure it would be.

Despite taking place in a world of vampires and werewolves, at its core, Twilight has always been a soap opera. Call it Transylvania 90210. As this chapter begins, Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) are still madly in love. When Edward's vampire family, the Cullens, throw a surprise 18th birthday party for Bella, things take a bad turn and Edward realizes that the only way to keep Bella out of harm's way is to never see her again. Bella falls into a deep depression and only through her friendship with Jacob (Taylor Lautner) does she begin to heal. Jacob wants to be more than friends and although she has feelings for him, Bella's heart still very much belongs to Edward. To complicate matters further, Jacob is a werewolf who spends his free time hunting vampires. New Moon really is Romeo and Juliet meets West Side Story wrapped in a supernatural candy shell.

This installment has more story, better performances from all involved and more humor, not to mention more action. Twilight's core group of fans may be young women, but given a chance, New Moon should have no trouble winning over legions of young men as well. The action scenes are done very well and are quite thrilling. The special effects are seamless and I was very impressed with the look of the werewolves.

CGI creatures sometimes look too fake, but the werewolves in New Moon are done really well and have a very realistic quality to them. Director Chris Weitz has truly improved upon Catherine Hardwicke's original in every way. To be fair, I tend to always enjoy the second installment of a series more than the first. I'll debate anyone that disagrees that Empire Strikes Back, Spider-Man 2, Superman II and The Dark Knight (just to name a few) aren't superior to the first films of those series. Of course there are exceptions such as The Matrix Reloaded and the second Pirates of the Caribbean film, but New Moon definitely falls into the former category.

The thing I liked most about New Moon is its use of humor. The first film was a bit too dour for my tastes and I kind of felt like I was trapped in this boring, emotive, Goth world. It is amazing how just a few funny lines can breathe life into a film; even ones that center around a love triangle between a teenage girl, an old vampire and a young stud werewolf. Despite the injection of humor, New Moon is still filled with plenty (if not too much) teenage angst and melodrama.

Just like the Harry Potter cast, all of the actors have grown in their respective roles. No actress is better at emoting teenage angst than Kristen Stewart. She has a "real" quality to her that makes her stand out from most young actresses. She seems like someone you went to high school with. Unfortunately the character is a bit of a downer. It would be nice to see her loosen up a bit. She is so emotionally draining that I almost had to wonder why all of these men are so taken with her. Robert Pattinson is much looser in this film than in the first and as a result gives an all around better performance. I also now understand why Bella is so in love with him. I still don't understand why every teenage girl in the world thinks he is so handsome.

To me he looks like someone smashed his face in with a shovel, but who am I to judge? The real stand out in the film is Taylor Lautner as Jacob. Despite playing the character in the first film, Lautner almost lost the role in the sequel because the producers felt he was too young to pull off the emotional range of the character. The actor is completely vindicated here, displaying great maturity and strength in the role. I know the big debate among Twilighters is Jacob or Edward and after seeing this film, I fall firmly on the side of team Jacob.

The film is a bit too long. They could've cut out quite a few scenes of Bella being depressed. Otherwise, New Moon is a solidly entertaining film that even those who are not die-hard fans of the series can enjoy. After seeing the first one, I had no real interest in seeing the sequel. This time around, I have to admit, I'll be looking forward to part three. Hell, I might even read the books.

Movie Reviews For Twilight

You can see immediately why this movie was an international hit, it is a romantic story many teenagers will identify with even though it has some horror themes as the inevitable subject deals with vampires, but it is in fact a love story.

It stars Kristen Stewart (unrecognisable from The Cake Eaters), as Bella Swan anxious to get away from her erratic hovering mother and new boyfriend as they go on tour, while she moves to a new school as she stays with her father the local sheriff Charlie Swan played by Billy Burke(Untraceable, 24, Party of Five).

We immediately get the distant relationship Bella has with her father, as Bella voice-overs "The great thing about Charlie is he doesn't hover" as he shows her room. In her new school she is introduced to as the new plaything, since she is joining half way through term, and quickly makes friends with amongst others the lovely Jessica Stanley played by Anna Kendrick(her smile is enough to brighten up any room).

As Bella settles in her new surroundings she gets reacquainted with some friends she knew when she was younger and stayed with her father, one being the charming Billy Black played by Gil Birmingham(Body and Soul), there is a particular funny scene where Bella's father buys an old vehicle from him for her, at first Bella looks at it as a worthless piece of junk, but then realises the potential it could have, and can't wait to test drive it, while Billy Black mentions to Charlie "I'm down with the kids".

A few days into her new school she sees the Cullen's, and takes a particular fancy to Edward Cullen played wonderfully by Robert Pattison (Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). There is a particular charming scene when they first meet in a class lab, many angst ridden teenager will identify with, having to get along even though they maybe a little bit embarrassed, that particular scene of their first encounter is beautifully shot, and is probably a major reason why many teenagers identify with it.

She finds out there are some rumours going on about the Cullen's, and her curiosity gets the better of her, leading to some unexpected consequences.

It is a charming movie right down to the infectious opening soundtrack, and I can't wait for the sequel.

"Deja Vu" is a film made in 2006. Being a special film because the main actor is Denzel Washington, one of my favorite actors. The phenomenon of  Deja Vu is a feeling that arises when we seem to have experienced events, circumstances, the same situation is now in the past or have experienced circumstances, the situation, the same atmosphere before either of the places, events or certain atmosphere, never felt met someone even felt well acquainted with the fact that we first began to know him, to experience it.

Deja Vu film's story begins with a tragedy blasting New Orleans ferry carrying marines with his family. The ship that had just left the port of Algiers with a full cheerful shown by the passengers of the ship, showing a smile and joyous atmosphere on each face of the passenger. Then the explosion occurs. The blast, which takes 543 casualties, including women and children. The atmosphere changed dramatically into a gripping, emotion and tears here and there.

An ATF agent (Bureau Of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms And Explosives) (U.S .Department Of Justice), local agent named Doug Carlin (Denzel Washington) is assigned to investigate this tragedy because there is a terrorism suspect here.

Of investigation in the area around the site of the blast, police found the body of a woman named Claire Kuchever (Paula Patton). Provisional estimates, Claire is one of the victims of acts of terrorism they are investigating, given the burns he suffered. But Doug findings conclude that Claire was killed before the blast, and Doug find a common thread death of Claire with her case being handled.

From the results of the investigation, Carlin suspect there is a link between the death of Claire with tragedy blasting vessel. He then met Claire's father to get more information and see firsthand the residence Claire where there he saw some peculiarity.

Because of ingenuity, experience and acumen instincts that exist in Carlin, as well as a local agent who knew more about his own area, an FBI agent named Paul Pryzwarra (Val Kilmer) offers him to join in a special investigative team to uncover the facts behind this mystery.

Pryzwarra then invited him to go to a facility sophisticated owned FBI where he could see the footage of events that have been passed (minus four days, six hours, three minutes, 45 seconds) around the world through a monitor big screen in a variety of viewpoints , The tape can only be seen once without being able to play back or stored in advance and then played back for further analysis. Super-sophisticated technology called "Snow White". With the sophistication of the technology is expected they could obtain the necessary evidence.

Pryzwarra team used seven satellites and space that allows viewing activity from all angles, even through to the bedroom. Armed with super-advanced technology, Carlin chose to focus its attention on the recording belonged to Claire. He hopes to get a bright spot from it. Investigation on Claire Kuchever started. Carlin began to explore Kuchever life for four days before the tragic events of his life frowning.

Clair life through this, Carlin wanted to try to prevent that all the tragedy of murder and blasting the ship never happened.

Doug and FBI eventually did manage to find the perpetrators of terrorism in this way. Using the technology of the white snow, Doug and his team are trying to send messages to the past to prevent the occurrence of such incidents. But the effort which he did in fact cause his colleagues were killed.

Finally he insisted himself sent back to the past to save Claire and stop the terrorists carry out his intention.

After his wife left, he spent much of his time by reading a good book at home, on the way to and from the office as well as at a cafe (Bridge Dinner) which is open 24 hours. Living with all the other routines as normal life.

Until one day he met and became acquainted with the Teri / Alina (Chloƫ Grace Moretz) a young girl with the profession as a commercial sex worker in a hoarse voice that used to come to the same cafe. Teri who works for the Russian mafia is often receive unfair treatment by superiors, McCall finally felt compelled to do something. He decided to help Teri. McCall effort to help Teri turned out to bring it to a bigger problem. Alina boss turned out to be an accomplice of the highly influential Russian mafia. Big boss of the mafia who are not happy because his business interfere McCall, eventually sending a special person to hunt McCall. But it turns out this is not an easy thing because McCall was not an ordinary person.

Actually, in his other life he had been a lot of people who do bad things, things he was not proud of, things that really he wanted to forget. He also promised the people that he loves to never be that person again. But in this case he wants to use his past ability to help Teri until complete.

At this movie (The Equalizer) there are some conversations that really made an impression on me, especially in a conversation couple (Brian and Susan) friend McCall ;

Brian "Were you able to help him?"
Susan "He didn't come for help, He came for permission"

It was one of dialogue exceptional in my opinion. And another dialogue "Change your world as you wish" "Change your world. Anything you wanna be"

The Equalizer is an adaptation of a television series in the era of the 80s with the same title.

8 out of 10

Michael Jackson's This Is It is a tough film to review. Culled from rehearsal footage for his planned 50 shows at the 02 Arena in London, This Is It isn't really a concert film nor is it a documentary offering an intimate look into the enigmatic entertainer. It's more like an intimate peep. Nonetheless, watching Jackson prepare for what was sure to be an amazing concert is quite magical.

To call the show he was preparing a concert is almost an insult. It was going to be a spectacle like no one has ever experienced. Jackson was taking every amazing element from his prior tours and planning on topping them. If nothing else, this look in to his creative process shows a man who was supremely talented and ready to conquer the world for a final time.

Since his death, the outpouring of love and support for the singer has been overwhelming. Gone is the cynicism surrounding his eccentric lifestyle and allegations of molestation. People have embraced him for all the good he has created through his music, dancing and showmanship. They are celebrating a truly one of a kind entertainer who has touched the hearts and minds of countless individuals throughout his career. No matter how you stand on whether Michael Jackson was a misunderstood angel or whether he was a monster, it's hard not to be in awe while watching him perform; even at half speed.

This Is It is essentially a documentary detailing the work that Jackson was putting into his final tour. You don't walk away with any real sense of knowing who he truly is. The man behind the performer remains a mystery. The brief bits you do see in between performances of every hit song imaginable, portray a soft spoken, humble man who is also extremely confident in himself as an entertainer. He wants everything the way he wants it, but he gets people to do what he wants through kindness and support. There is not a trace of oversized ego in any of his words and for a man who has been proclaimed as the King of Pop, that is quite inspiring. It is clear that when Jackson performs, his major goal is to spread love, peace and happiness to the entire audience.

Kenny Ortega, the creative director of Jackson's shows and also the creator of the High School Musical series, was hired to pull together all the rehearsal footage and make the movie and he has done a very proficient job. The film is structured like a concert in the sense that each song is performed in its entirety by splicing together various rehearsals. I can't say enough how incredible it is to watch Jackson perform. Even while half heartedly going through the motions he is a powerful force of nature.

Ortega starts the film with brief interviews taken from dancers who were auditioning for the show. They all express their excitement of having the opportunity to audition and possibly work with Michael. Some of them tear up as they are expressing what Jackson means to them and how he helped transform their lives and it a powerful few minutes to say the very least. I dare you not to get goose bumps. The audition process is shown and it is almost like watching a season of So You Think You Can Dance in ten minutes.

My only real complaint about the film is that it is too long. It could've been a half hour shorter and been just as powerful and inspiring. Maybe for diehard fans of Jackson, the film doesn't over stay its welcome, but for a casual fan or someone who is just curious to see the film, it can become slightly boring.

To sum it up, This Is It is an intimate look at what Jackson had planned for his shows and based on what I saw, they were going to be epic; the kind of concert that you remember for the rest of your life. Michael's magic is on full display here and is hard to resist. Whether you are his biggest fan or his biggest detractor, it is impossible to watch this movie and not walk away with a sense of how great he truly was.

Movie Reviews - The Day After Tomorrow

Movie reviews this week looks at the ecological suspense thriller The Day After Tomorrow with Dennis Quaid (Inner Space) as a climatologist Jack Hall, who for years has been warning the U.S. government and the world in general that its' reliance on fossil fuels is causing a great deal of harm to the planet (a couple of years before Al Gore's Oscar winning An inconvenient truth).

His estimations of a global disaster from global warming which would usher in another ice age, which he predicts as a best guess estimate certainly not in his lifetime; that polar melting would disrupt the North Atlantic current, suddenly escalates to the present, with an ice age hitting the vast majority of America, and Jack in a desperate rush against time to save his son, Sam Hall played by Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko), who is trapped in New York, which unfortunately is at the epicentre of this ice age.

This is one of the first movies to highlight the environment impact of our reliance on fossil fuels, with several scenes to ponder the potential disaster on our hands, one of these is a helicopter going over Scotland that suddenly just freezes at minus 150 degrees Fahrenheit and there is a great scene, where Jack has been telling the scientific community would happen albeit with some scoffing, that the sun would accelerate the rapid decline in temperature to beyond freezing point, immediately freezing structures, and anything that happens to pass within the rays of the sun at that particular time, unfortunately he gets to witness this phenomenon first hand in a desperate race against time to find shelter while everything around him freezes as the sun comes up.

There is also an unforgettable scene as the Tower of Liberty freezes solid.

Not only does he have to breach the bitter cold, he also has to fend off dogs that have gone insane from hunger, looking for anything warm blooded to eat, ergo any humans they can find.

We find out that Jack feels he has let down his son a little, and this journey to find him is something he has to do to make up for their relationship, there is a brilliant conversation at the beginning, where Jack finds out Sam has failed Calculus, and Sam replies he got every question right, and the only reason the lecturer failed him was because he didn't write out the solutions but did it instead in his head, Jack asks him if he told the lecturer, he told him he did, but the lecturer said if he couldn't do it in his head neither could Sam.

Movie Reviews - The Blind Side

Movie Reviews this week looks at the Oscar winning biographical drama The Blind Side.

It is an absolutely charming story, of Leigh Anne Tuohy played by the lovely Sandra Bullock (Speed), and the story of her adopted son, and you can see immediately why she won the best actress Oscar.

She plays a conservative mother in a very nice and well-off neighbourhood, who sees Michael Oher played very convincingly by Quinton Aaron, one rainy night walking aimlessly, she asks her husband Sean played by Tim McGraw (Four Christmases), to stop the car, she asks him where he is heading seeing he is just in a t-shirt in the pouring rain, he says he is going to the gym, she asks him again why he is going to the gym, and tells him the gym closed a while back, and for him not to lie to her, he says he is simply going there because it is warm.

Prior to this, we are told the story of how Mike got into the school in the first place. The coach at this Christian school, Burt Cotton played charmingly as always by Ray McKinnon (Randy and the Mob) had been approached by a fellow to allow his son into the school, as well as Mike, the coach sees Mike and the man's son playing basketball and sees the potential of Mike making them famous on a sporting arena, so convinces the board that it is their Christian duty to let him in. However in class Mike seems distant minded, and all the teachers are worried as he seems the slowest in the class, except for one particular teacher Mrs. Bower played the lovely Kim Dickens (Hollow Man) who notices Mike remembers the majority of what the teachers are saying, as he is able to describe in his own words the grasp of what it is they are saying, but may not necessarily write it down as eloquently as they wanted. As all the teachers are discussing Mike's ability one day, wondering if he can write, Mrs. Bower shows them a note that Mike had written that had been thrown in the trash, speaking of his sadness and what the teachers expect of him, to do all the work alone.

Leigh asks where he lives, his parents, or grandparents, Mike shakes his head nonchalantly, and Leigh amazingly takes him to her home, with a mild confrontation with her husband as to how long Mike is going to stay, he asks "This is just for the one night"? Where Leigh nods absentmindedly, but the expression on her face is already thinking of much longer term.

Mike gets along with Leigh's two children, her son S.J. played very impressively by Jae Head, and her daughter Collins played by the adorable Lily Collins, Leigh asks her how she would feel if Mike moved in with them permanently, she nonchalantly agrees, and when Mike is asked how he would feel moving having Leigh and Sean as his legal guardians, he smiles and thought he was already part of the family.

The Blind Side turns out is a very beautiful movie, of acceptance and love that a young man needs, and the struggle one woman faces with social services, her social circles, and the community in trying to make one boy's life better, and what makes this movie even more amazing is this is a true story.

Movie Review - Runaway Train (1986)

Runaway Train

Starring Jon Voight, Eric Roberts, and Rebecca DeMornay
Directed by Andrei Konchalovsky
Written by Djordje Milecevic, Paul Zindel, Edward Bunker, based on a screenplay by Akira Kurosawa

Runaway Train is a film out of control. At its best, it is a cold and brutal depiction of life in a maximum security prison; at its worst, it is a bungled parable on the futility of escape.

Escape for hardened criminals Manny (Jon Voight) and Buck (Eric Roberts) means an elusive shot at freedom, but Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky (Siberiade, Maria's Lovers) tries to instill their quest with deeper significance. He seems bent on driving home his parallel vision of a society out of control, and neither the script nor the actors fare well under the weight of his noble intentions.

At the film's epicenter is the massive, haunting figure of a runaway train thundering through the Alaskan mountain wilderness. Manny and Buck, through a rather incredible chain of events, find themselves aboard the screaming metal monster after just escaping their prison cells. At first they believe they've secured their freedom, but slowly begin to realize that there is no engineer at the controls, that they have exchanged one set of bonds for another, and that they are helplessly alone.

Helpless, yes; alone, no. There is, it turns out, a third passenger aboard: Sara (Rebecca DeMornay), a railroad worker who was aboard the train when it first rolled free of the rail yard. She is the rational counterbalance to the insanity of Manny and Buck.

Though filmed in color, Runaway Train looks for all intents and purposes like a black and white feature. The train is a speeding black bullet against the pristine white of the Alaskan snow. Dark trees and naked rocks rush endlessly past us, and everything else seems a pale shade of gray. The only notable exception comes in an excruciatingly painful scene where Manny's hand is crushed between train coupling. The wash of blood, filmed with a rather detached nonchalance, draws a sharp contrast to the untouched snow of the surrounding landscape and jolts the viewer out of the dull depression brought on by the rest of the picture.

The script - by Djordje Milecevic, Paul Zindel, Edward Bunker, and god only knows who else - was based on an earlier screenplay by the great Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa (Seven Samurai and Ran). Unfortunately, something has been lost in the translation. Or maybe a lot of somethings. Whenever this many writers get their hands on a screenplay, trouble can't be far behind. Kurosawa's vision has been swallowed by the committee and spit back out in and unrecognizable form, resulting in an overbearing pretentiousness and laughable dialog.

The acting doesn't help matters any. Jon Voight, an Academy award-winner best known for his powerful roles in Midnight Cowboy and Coming Home, struggles with his dialog throughout and is forced to utter such schlock lines as, "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger." He overacts the part, but his forced histrionics are subtle understatements compared to the theatrics of Eric Roberts, who drew popular and critical raves for his psychopathic role in Star 80, can't seem to control himself here. He dances across the screen in a fidgety mass of nervous mannerisms embarrassingly reminiscent of his turn in The Pope of Greenwich Village. Roberts wouldn't know subtext if it bit him. The manic energy that worked so well in Star 80 is hard to take seriously here.

Forget Voight's Best Actor nomination for this film; forget Roberts' Best Supporting nomination as well. The former is a fluke based largely on the respect garnered by past performances; the latter is beyond comprehension.

Rebecca DeMornay, nearly unrecognizable from her previous roles in Risky Business and The Slugger's Wife, is more than competent as the scruffy bystander caught up in circumstances beyond her control. Keneth McMillan (Ragtime, Dune) is also very good in a small role, as the railroad boss desperately trying to avert disaster.

If director Konchalovsky doesn't quite manage to bring al these elements together into a coherent whole - and he doesn't - he does know how to tighten the thumbscrews, sustaining and building suspense throughout. Herein lies the film's strength. Each frame of Runaway Train packs more tension than most thrillers can boast of in their entirety.

Too bad he couldn't get the rest of this Train on track.
