Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro) is a retired manufacturer phone book. He is a disciplined, organized, and conscientious. At the age of 70 years and as a widower, Ben bored with the routine of his life and wanted to go back to work. Opportunities come when there is a vacancy as a senior trainee in a company's new online fashion site called Aboutthefit.com. With a resume in the form of video recordings that are unique to the application proposal, he finally accepted as a senior intern at the company.
The owner of the company where he worked called About the Fit is Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), a career woman who is young and beautiful. As the owner and founder of the company, Jules knows exactly what to do and also what should be done by the employees although sometimes she also saw something that does not fit or is not in place. SHe also has the ability and the power to raise the company that she built from a small company to be a successful company to have 220 employees including Ben and 3 others within 18 months.
Jules initially objected and did not agree when Ben was assigned to apprentice as a direct subordinates. Because of different age and she's much less can establish a harmonious relationship with an older man as her own relationship with both parents. However, Ben later proved a great achievement to Jules. With Ben sensitivity, something that does not fit, do not tidy and should not exist, can be resolved by Ben. That makes Jules feel surprise. Ben also has properties that patient and wise, until Jules felt need guidance, as well as a trusted colleague. Jules finally can not get away from Ben. Due to its responsibilities as a direct subordinate that makes Ben eventually became a personal driver Jules to be acquainted with her husband, Matt (Anders Holm) and his adorable Paige (JoJo Kushner).
In the work environment surrounded by young people who work behind the screen, Ben also became a role model. At first Ben who stutter technology widely taught on how to use a laptop, but the life experience he had in the end they are the one who are taking life lessons from him, particularly Jason (Adam Devine), Davis (Zack Pearlman), and Cameron (Andrew Rannels), three close associate of Ben.
Many lessons can be taken in this film (The Intern). Experience of life and work, precision, accuracy, responsibility for work, love our work, sensitive to where we work and harmonious relationships between fellow employees, with all that we will have success or at least we are happy and comfortable with our work.
